Stay Tuned.....

Next week is a BIG week for me. I have put off for 20 years, the removal of my wisdom teeth. Now that I am 38, it has been determined that they must come out. My dentist refuses to fill them and they are starting to get cavities. So out they come.

I'm going to a really great oral surgeon( he removed DH's) but I am still nervous about the whole process. Especially since when my regular dentist filled a tooth a couple of weeks ago, he left a huge bruise on the side of my mouth. ( Not his fault, I have a tiny tiny mouth). So I am really worried about what my face will look like after having 4 PULLED.

On top of that, DH is leaving on Sat( I am having them pulled Thurs) for Geneva. So I hope I am up and functional by then, and not still lounging around whining :)....

Luckily I have good friends I can call if I need too - but stii, I waited on him hand and foot when he had his out. Who is going to get my Chick Fil A milkshakes? Last time I checked, Reilly couldn't drive!!!

I'll post an update after surgery when I am lucid :)

  1. I wish you the best of luck! At thirty three, I'm going to need to have mine out too, so I'll be watching your process carefully.

  2. You call if you need anything! I am a huge dental baby and when I got mine out, I waited as long as I could to get them done. And I only had two! But honestly I had a great experience, relatively speaking. I was very pleased. I am sensitive to the opiate painkillers they give you, so I asked my doc to just give me the versid component of the anesthesia (which knocks you out) and skip the demerol. He just put a lot of novocaine in for me to leave the office, and gave me an Rx for pain pills on the way. Worked perfectly. My particular med for home use was mepergan (sp?) and it was great. I only had to take them for a day or so. You'll be back on your feet in no time! But do call if you need anything.

  3. Oh Steph. I wish I could come up there and help you. Or wave a magic wand making it a non-issue.

Praying for it all to go smoothly and little to no bruising.

  4. I'll defintitely be thinking of you. I just remember Jello and soup and I recommend that you don't do like what I did. I wanted strawberry-banana jello and I had so much strawberry-banana jello that I was sick of the flavor for years. Get lots of different flavors :-)

I will post a jello recipe that is actually very good. I usually don't like them but this one is so good that I asked my mom to make it for me after my hysterectomy.

  5. Raspberry Sour Cream Jello Mold

1 package(.3 oz) sugar free raspberry Jello
    1 cup water
1 package (10 oz) frozen raspberries, slightly thawed
1 cup crushed pineapple (in juice) drained
    1 banana, mashed
1 cup reduced fat sour cream

Dissolve .3 oz package of raspberry Jello in 1 cup boiling water. Add one, 10 oz package raspberries, slightly thawed, 1 cup crushed pineapple (drained) and one mashed banana.

Pour half of mixture in mold and let set. Spread with 1 cup sour cream and pour remaining Jello over. Let stand until firm.

  6. Yum, Janyne. That sounds good. I also have a jello recipe from my MIL - she makes it every holiday. It's (I'm trying not to laugh at Janyne's earlier comment) - "Strawberry-banana jello salad." I'll have to get you the exact recipe, but basically you take strawberry jello with cut up berries and banana slices (oh, and chopped pecans, which you could leave out) and layer half of it in a dish, chill, then spread cool whip over that and pour the remaining jello/fruit on... chill and set. It's super yummy!!

  7. Thanks guys! I will have to try that recipe. I am going to go shopping for myself on Wed night. That way I don't have to spell everything out for Doug on a list. Lots of gatorade too. Thank goodness we have a fridge upstairs.

I plan on staying in bed most of the day Thurs and Friday with plenty of DVD's, my laptop and a good book ;)

And Angela I will call if I need anything, even if it is to whine ;)
